On the Brink of a U.S. Economic Policy Mistake
Congress/Senate has been so focused on deficits and cutting the budget that they are moving us back into a recession. Cutting spending, cuts consumer demand which weakens the economy and throws more people out of work at a time when there are over four people looking for work for every one job available. Unfortunately, until our trade policies are fixed, stimulus to create jobs in America seem to create more jobs overseas to fill America's increased consumer demand caused by the stimulus and so the stimulus and demand dies. So until trade policies are fixed, stimulus must be aimed carefully to areas where only American workers can fill the demand such as in U.S. infrastructure repair and improvement, high speed rail intra state and inter state, and alternative energy like wind and solar where it can be implemented with conditions on the stimulus that American workers must be used for the work and supply chain involved in the work. Let your congress and senate representatives know we want done.
You/We ... All of us together DID IT with over 750,000 verifiable signatures to put SB5 on the ballot. We are still waiting for the official word of acceptance from the powers that be.
In the meantime, none of us can take our eye off the ball, the bigger picture in politics that impacts all of us. There are so many Republican candidates for President that even the more progressive media are so busy covering the Republican candidates (giving them full say on the air without challenging their twisted spin) that the Progressive agenda supporting middle class workers has been ignored. The media even seem to be showing support for using Social Security and Medicare as subjects for the budget cuts instead of putting taxes back where they were before Reagan and Bush continued to defund the government via tax cuts and breaks for the wealthy and big corporations so social safety nets would be in jeopardy. Express yourself to the media and your legislators repeatedly so they will begin to listen. Only unity will save workers!
